Four Outposts to be Removed

Major General Moshe Kaplinski, Commander of the IDF's Central Region, signed an order for the removal of four unauthorized West Bank outposts. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz had signed an order a day earlier to evacuate them.

United Torah Jewry representatives in the Knesset Finance Committee attacked the Education Ministry for its plans to cut budgets for chareidi educational institutions that do not commit to the Core Program, which includes a general curriculum inappropriate for chareidi educational institutions.

British General Cautiously Predicts US Success in Iraq

As Maj. Gen. Graeme Lamb prepared to hand his command in southeastern Iraq to another British general last week, he said that Saddam Hussein's capture, and progress in restoring oil installations, power stations and running water, as well as the Iraqis' fast-rising prosperity, and some other factors had led him and others to conclude that the American-led occupation force can eventually hand a politically stable Iraq back to its people.

Route for High-Speed Train to Jerusalem Approved

The National Council for Planning and Construction, headed by Mr. Amram Kalegi, approved a detailed master plan for the route for the high-speed train to Jerusalem and recommended government approval.

Mass Aliyah to Israel is Obsolete

As we noted last week, the only long-term solution to the demographic threat that faces Israel is children and more children. Chazal said, "If there are no young kids, there are no adult goats" (Yerushalmi Sanhedrin 10:2). If we want to have people in the future to perpetuate the Jewish people and the Jewish mission in the world, we must have children now.
