There was a flurry activity of the diplomatic sort known as "confidence building" in Lebanon this week, as a German mediator was allowed to visit Elchanan Tannenbaum, as Israeli businessman who was captured by Hizbullah nearly three years ago. On Monday, Israel turned over to the International Red Cross (ICRC) the bodies of two Hizbullah fighters who transferred them to Lebanon.

21 Murdered in Jerusalem Bus Bombing, Including Many Children

A Palestinian bomber boarded a packed Jerusalem bus making its way from the Western Wall last Tuesday night and blew himself up, murdering 21 people and wounding more than 100 others, a dozen seriously, in one of the deadliest bombings in the past three years of violence. Eight children were among the dead, Hy'd, and at least 40 youngsters were wounded in the bus blast.

Melbourne's Groundbreaking Tay Sachs Prevention Program

A `world-first' for the Melbourne Jewish community was the recent official launch of the Melbourne Tay Sachs Prevention Program which took place in the local Bnai Brith hall. The launch was attended by the local Federal member of Parliament, Mr Michael Danby, and leaders and representatives of shuls, Jewish communual organizations and schools.

Private Daniel Hiller was found dead at his Israel Defense Forces base on May 30, 2001. An autopsy performed on his body at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (NIFM) at Abu Kabir in Tel Aviv by Dr. Bertold Levy, showed that he had committed suicide.
