The nationwide battle against this year's decrees was to open
on Tuesday afternoon when hundreds of yeshiva directors and
school principals arrived at the Galei Tzanz Hotel in Netanya
to participate in a National Emergency Conference to protest
coldhearted plans by the Sharon government to undermine the
yeshivas and other chareidi educational institutions. Leaders of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in
Israel were arrested early Tuesday morning. According to
Israeli government spokesman, they funneled millions of
shekels to the militant Hamas movement, "oiling the wheels of
murderous terrorism." The move appears to be a new Israeli
emphasis on Israeli Arabs involved in terror. Up until now
Israel has not mounted any large scale operations against
Israeli Arabs.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Authority Prime
Minister Mahmoud Abbas are slated to meet at the end of this
week. Late reports said that meeting was scheduled for motzei
Shabbos at Sharon's Yerushalayim residence.
General Strike Launched on Tuesday Morning After last minute talks on Monday night between the Finance
Ministry and the Histadrut broke down without reaching any
agreement, a "general strike" began on Tuesday morning for an
"unlimited" time. HaRav Shteinman Speaks at Yeshivas Beis Achiezer in
Ashkelon Yeshivas Beis Achiezer, Toras Chaim institutions and Ashkelon
residents were privileged to receive a special visit by HaRav
Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman who came to the yeshiva to
deliver words of chizuk and blessing.
It is clear that the scope of the cuts in programs that
affect the chareidi community are focused and goal-oriented.
They are an exercise in social engineering whose intent is to
bring about sweeping changes in the lifestyle of the chareidi
community in Eretz Yisroel.

Continuing a series we presented some time back.
A picture that takes pride of place in many homes is the
family wedding portrait. Rows of fathers, mothers,
