Yeshiva Midrash Shmuel Celebrates Hachnosas Sefer Torah

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Yeshivas Midrash Shmuel celebrated a memorable hachnosas sefer Torah on 23 Cheshvan at the yeshiva building in Sha'arei Chessed, Jerusalem. The event was sponsored by the Dubiner and Wolff families of London, who dedicated the sefer Torah in memory of their brother, Reb Yechiel Michel ben Gavriel, zt"l.

Avreichim, talmidim, and friends of Midrash Shmuel were privileged to hear inspiring words of Torah from HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, the nosi of Yeshiva Midrash Shmuel, HaRav Aharon Feldman, rosh yeshiva of Be'er HaTorah, and HaRav Zev Cohen of the Gateshead Yeshiva in England. The rosh yeshiva of Midrash Shmuel, HaRav Binyomin Moskovits, also addressed the large gathering.

Established over six years ago in Sha'arei Chessed, Yeshiva Midrash Shmuel is under the leadership of HaRav Binyomin Moskovits, who is assisted by highly talented talmidei chachomim and educators. In his thirteen years at the Ponovezh Yeshiva, Rav Binyomin forged a close relationship with the rosh yeshiva, HaRav Shmuel Rozovsky, zt"l, and was a close talmid of the mashgiach, HaRav Yechezkel Levenstein, zt"l. Their influence is strongly felt in Rav Binyomin's gemora shiurim as well as in his mussar talks. His shiurim are characterized by penetrating analysis and lomdus which are aimed at explaining the pshat of the gemora and rishonim.

The Rosh Yeshiva takes special interest in each student, and special effort is made to set up every student with an appropriate chavrusa, based on each individual's unique strengths. Each student is encouraged to work on his own chaburos and to deliver them to a group of other students. Personal and interpersonal growth is stressed through the Rosh Yeshiva's mussar and hashkofo shiurim.

There are presently over 130 talmidim in the yeshiva, including 50 avreichim, from all parts of the world. Many talmidim of the yeshiva have become leading educators and rabbonim in Israel, North America, England, Europe, and South Africa.
