Pullout Now Scheduled to Begin After Tisha B'Av

In interviews with the electronic media that he gave in
connection with Independence Day, Prime Minister Sharon said
that the disengagement from Gaza will be pushed back three
weeks from its original schedule right before 17 Tammuz, to
right after Tisha B'Av. He also made it clear that he intends
to seek another term as prime minister of Israel, despite his
current age (77).

The entire chareidi public was shocked at the publication of
a spiteful, deceitful and audacious article published on the
front page of the national-religious daily Hatsofe.
Following the appearance of the article MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni
contacted Attorney General Mani Mazuz demanding he open a
criminal investigation against journalist Chagai Huberman,
who wrote the article, to look into suspicions of libel.
Keeping a Cross Off Stamp Commemorating Pope

Deputy Welfare Minister Rabbi Avrohom Ravitz asked Minister
Dan Naveh, head of the Ministerial Committee for Symbols and
Ceremonies, to ensure that no crosses appear on the stamp
issued in memory of Pope John Paul II. In his letter Rabbi
Ravitz notes, "Many of our people shudder at the sight of the
cross, which opens wounds that have not yet healed over and
reminds them of acts committed under this symbol."

The dedication of an Aron Hakodesh and Paroches
at the Bais Yaakov Synagogue (commonly known as the
"shteiblach") in the Beis Israel neighborhood of Jerusalem on
Leib Dayan street was held Sunday 29 Nisan-May 8. The event
was not only a personal dream fulfilled for a family abroad,
but was also the special occasion of a reunion of cousins who
last saw each other 79 years ago!
