Local Authority Workers Strike

On Tuesday morning strike actions increased as services delivered by local authorities were stopped. Garbage collection was halted, parking tickets were not handed out, municipal fee collections ceased, and kindergarten assistants stayed home from work. Local authority workers are going on a strike of unspecified duration. The workers are paralyzing the main computer in every office.


Olmert Orders Shabbos Inspections Frozen

Industry and Trade Minister Ehud Olmert has agreed Shinui's demands to stop sending Druse inspectors around on Shabbos to penalize shopping malls open illegally "until the issue has been studied." The Mafdal says this step would cause a crisis in the coalition, while Shinui insists "there will not be religious coercion in this government."


United Nations Workers Aided Terror

Terrorist organizations in Palestinian-controlled areas, as well as in Syria and Lebanon, take advantage of United Nations (UNRWA) workers and their vehicles, which have authorization to pass IDF checkpoints without inspection, to transport arms and terrorists, according to a report by Israeli defense officials.

Former Shin Bet agent provocateur Avishai Raviv was acquitted by Jerusalem Magistrate's Court of failing to notify authorities of Yigal Amir's intention to assassinate prime minister Yitzhak Rabin. The verdict comes more than seven years after the events it refers to.

A massive gathering of rabbonim, roshei yeshivos, dayonim, admorim and thousands more accompanied HaRav Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky zt'l, Av Beis Din of the Eida Chareidis of Jerusalem, to rest in Jerusalem last Wednesday.

Hatzoloh Medics Escort the Levaya

Hundreds of medics from Hatzoloh of Jerusalem showed great professionalism at the levaya of HaRav Yisroel Moshe Dushinsky, zt'l. At 12 noon, all of the Hatzoloh medics took up positions along the route, except for a special on- call team that remained available for routine emergencies. A mobile command car was set up to direct and coordinate the medics based on needs arising in the field.

Although more than thirty days have already elapsed since the sudden petiroh of Rabbi Meyer Rosenbaum zt"l, the Torah world continues to mourn his passing as he left an indelible impression on the hearts and minds of so many people. A man with a warm heart and a burning drive to do and accomplish, Reb Meyer zt"l excelled in the three pillars that uphold the world: Torah, Avodoh and Gemilus Chassadim.
