Seudah Honors New Volume of Mifal Hashulchan Oruch Hasholeim
by Y. Ariel

The Haifa branch of Machon Yerushalayim recently held a gala seudas mitzva in honor of publication of the new volume of the Mifal Shulchan Oruch Hasholeim series on hilchos niddah and mikvaos.

The Haifa branch was founded three years ago by the rav of the Haifa chareidi community, HaRav Yosef Halevi Bamberger. HaRav Bamberger delivered an address. The branch, located within Yeshivas Nachlas Helevi'im, includes on its staff some of the most prominent talmidei chachomim in the city. HaRav Yaakov Berkowitz is head of the branch. Two years ago, an additional Machon branch was founded in the Haifa Seret- Vizhnitz outstanding talmidei chachomim and headed by HaRav Boruch Zoldan, one of the editors of the new volume.

The event was attended by the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Chief Rabbi of Haifa, roshei yeshiva, Haifa and area marbitzei Torah, the ga'avad of Makava, chief rabbis of various cities, dayonim, Haifa chareidi and religious communal leaders, and the heads and rabbonim of the Machon. Among the roshei yeshiva who attended were the roshei yeshiva of Nachlas Helevi'im, Knesses Chizkiyahu and Seret- Vizhnitz.

The guest of honor at the event was Reb Hershy Friedman of Canada. Known for his many activities on behalf of Torah, Reb Hershy is also patron of the Machon Yerushalayim edition of the Shulchan Oruch Hasholeim. The many speakers cited Haifa's great merit in being an active partner in this illustrious publication.
