Another disturbing decision of the High Court justices was issued last week when three judges headed by Aharon Barak forbade the Housing and Construction Ministry to grant buyers of apartments in Elad any benefits that are not offered to other buyers in the center of the country. The reason for this is that the Housing Ministry has designated Elad as a city with a religious character.

Shema Yisroel Yad Vashem Tov Center To Open in Jerusalem

"One Shavuos night, in a hideout between the trees of the forest, the Rav of Potick made kiddush over a bit of wine and recited the shehecheyonu blessing. When asked how he could recite shehecheyonu on so difficult a period, he replied: `My shehecheyonu is in gratitude to Hashem for my staunchness of faith, which has not waned even by a hairsbreadth.'"

OPINION & COMMENT

Let Us Fulfill Our Purpose

The mitzvos of the Torah, says the Maharal (Tiferes Yisroel, 4) are like a rope that hauls a person up from the bottomless pit that is the lower world into the upper world, to "seat him with the King, Hashem Tzevokos, eye to eye."

Say Cheese!
by Rivka Tal

Zman mattan Toroseinu is a signal for the homemaker to take out her dairy dishes and count exactly how many plates are not chipped. Following the ancient custom of eating at least one dairy meal on Shavuos, let's `say cheese.'

Al Kiddush Hashem: R' Avrohom Ben Avrohom
By Rav Dov Eliach

The last day for Kiddush Levonoh - Sivan

One can say Kiddush Levonoh in the entire world until the morning of Shabbos parshas Behaalosecho, 14 Sivan (June 17), at 5:07 A.M., according to the Summer Clock, Israeli time. The final time is therefore in Eretz Yisroel, most of Europe, and eastern countries the entire Thursday night, the eve of 13 Sivan (June 16). If one did not make a berochoh before Shabbos it is preferable that he do so on leil Shabbos and not forfeit it altogether. In western Europe and America the final time is only according to the difference in time zones in comparison to Eretz Yisroel.

The astronomical full moon is at 1:27 A.M., three hours and two thirds earlier than the nigud emtzo'i. If one did not make a berochoh until the alos hashachar, which is in Eretz Yisroel at 3:42 A.M. and western Europe at chatzos, although there is still light from the moon, one should still not make a berochoh with shem and malchus since then there is tartei lerei'usa (after alos and after the nigud emtzo'i).
