Europe's 27th annual Yarchei Kallah took place last week at
the Normandie Hotel in the British vacation town of
Bournemouth. This unique yeshiva was founded by the
gaavad of Ponovezh, HaRav Yosef Sholom Kahaneman,
zt'l and is headed by HaRav Dov Povarski, one of the
current roshei yeshiva of Ponovezh. Directors of the
program report that more than 500 people from all over the
world participated in this year's program. Additional hotel
rooms nearby were rented to accommodate the overflow
crowd.
The program was opened by HaRav Boruch Dov Povarski, who
delivered a shiur on masechta dekallah and a
mussar discourse.
The Yarchei Kallah lasted an entire week, throughout which a
general shiur and a discourse were delivered daily by
HaRav Povarski. Daily shiurim were also delivered by
HaRav Gavriel Knopfeller, the rosh yeshiva of the
Manchester yeshiva and HaRav Boruch Pines of Bnei Brak. The
guest of honor was HaRav Chaim Peretz Berman, who continued
the tradition of his father, HaRav S. Berman, who had, in the
past delivered shiurim at the Yarchei Kallah.
HaRav Boruch Dov Povarski was the guest of honor at the
siyum Mishnayos celebration of London's Agudas
Yisroel.
