OPINION & COMMENT

Our Mourning Brings the Geula

Moshiach is a "son of falling," because the falling itself, if acknowledged and treated properly, brings Moshiach.

As long as we recognize that we have fallen and we mourn our situation and long for it to end, there is hope of rising again.

Accepting Infirmity B'Simcha
by M. Steinberg

The cutest people live in Jerusalem. I am using the word 'cute' advisedly. My meaning is that the person is so special that you could just pinch their cheek from happiness for their existence. Boruch Hashem I meet them everywhere I go.

Additional Luach Information-

The last day for Kiddush Levonoh -- Av

One can say Kiddush Levonoh in the entire world until Wednesday morning, 15 Av (July 23), at 9:02 A.M., according to the Summer Clock, Israeli time. The final time is therefore in Eretz Yisroel, the eastern countries, and Europe on the entire Tuesday night, the eve of 15 Av. However, in America it is possible to make a brocho only according to the difference in time zones in comparison to Eretz Yisroel. In western USA and Canada one can make Kiddush Levonoh until 11:02 P.M., according to the Summer Clock.

Lunar Eclipse

A half shadow (penumbral) lunar eclipse will start at 1:59 A.M. (according to the Summer Clock in western USA and Canada), will be a full moon (if there would not have been an eclipse) at 4:25 A.M., and will end on 7:09 A.M.

Halachic Implications

It is reasonable that one can make a brocho on Kiddush Levonoh until the astronomical full moon -- occurring near the eclipse's peak -- that is within 15 days from the molad. Therefore in western USA and Canada one can make Kiddush Levonoh until 4:25 A.M. and in the rest of America for the entire night.
