HaRav Avraham Chaim Feuer joins Yeshivas Midrash Shmuel for Tisha B'Av

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Tisha B'Av at Yeshivas Midrash Shmuel this year was elevating and inspirational as a packed auditorium was privileged to hear the wisdom of the illustrious HaRav Avraham Chaim Feuer, rav of Kehillas Beis Avrohom in Monsey, New York and author of a number of acclaimed publications.

The rosh hayeshiva of Midrash Shmuel, HaRav Binyomin Moskovits, opened the proceedings by praising HaRav Feuer (a son-in-law and talmid of HaRav Gifter zt"l) for being one possessed of sound Torah outlook combined with the capacity to stir his audience. This he did with exceptional clarity and elegance on Tisha B'Av.

HaRav Feuer noted that a few Kinos recited with true feeling and intent was better than many Kinos recited perfunctorily. The audience was truly inspired by his introductions and explanations of some of the most esoteric Kinos. He drew on many primary sources and letters, some of which are not publicly known, to breathe life into the Kinos for our generation. His explanations were given with emotion and meaning that made the talmidim of the Yeshiva and the many guests aware that in our times too the Churban has much significance for us.

HaRav Feuer succeeded in communicating to us what we are mourning and how we can rise to the challenges which the Torah requires of us.

Midrash Shmuel remains committed to communicating true Torah values to talmidim of all backgrounds. The Yeshiva looks forward to many future events and speakers in the coming year.
