The Yahrtzeit of the Holy Rebbetzin of the Dubno Maggid

To The Editor:

For many generations now, the name of the holy Rebbetzin of the Maggid of Dubno zt"l has escaped us. There has never been a mention of this tzadeikes in all the encyclopedia and Jewish Heritage volumes and in fact, some authors have confused the name of the Maggid's mother, the Rebbetzin Hinda zt"l (who was the daughter of Rabbi Nochum of Kobryn) with the name of his wife.

So we are all the more grateful to Hashem that we are able to at long last reveal to you and your readers that a USA researcher, Shelley Pollero, has discovered amongst old civil Russian/Polish registrations, the record of the petiroh of the Rebbetzin of the Dubno Maggid, whose name was Adel (Udel) zt"l. She was niftar on 2nd April 1811 at the very young age of 56 and was buried in Zamosc at the side of her husband the Dubno Maggid zt"l whom she outlived by 7 years. The yahrtzeit of this tzadeikes is therefore 8th Nisan. We do hope that you will give this a mention.

Sincerely yours

R' Shimon Grossnass
