The Beginning of the Israeli Election Campaign
Though it sounded frightening, a lot of chareidi politicians
were less than impressed with the prime minister's dramatic
announcement last week of a secular revolution. Though Barak
continues to exude his customary confidence and promises
that, given a little time, everything will be fine, his

The Torah Universe: A-ee
My nephew stared in astonishment. He pointed to the large
hairy thing hanging from my arm by its sharp claws.

"What is it?" he asked.
"It's a sloth," I replied. Then, since he was only three

"Sort of like a monkey, but it lives upside down."
The Four Amos of Halocho
The following hesped for Shmuel Yoel Greenhaus,
zt'l, a yeshiva student recently killed in a car
accident near Kiryat Sefer, was given at the end of the
shiva. This presentation is based on the notes of one
of the listeners. It is an inspiring his'orerus for
Elul and the new zman.
"A prophet from your midst, from your brethren, like myself,
shall Hashem your G-d appoint for you; him shall you obey."
Rashi comments: "Just as I am from your midst, from your
brethren, so shall someone like me replace me, and similarly,
[a replacement] from one prophet to the next."

Hearts of the Fathers, Hearts of Sons

different. One finds himself proud of the difficulties he
endured with his child, and of the fears with which he coped.
