New Fund Spurs Torah Novellae

by Betzalel Kahn

The yeshiva world is very delighted over the founding of the new Uchesavtem fund, which has been warmly endorsed by gedolei Yisroel. The purpose of the fund is to encourage chiddushei Torah.

On the presidium of this special worldwide fund are: HaRav Boruch Shmuel HaKohen Deutsch, one of the roshei yeshiva of Kol Torah; HaRav Gavriel Toledano, rosh yeshiva of Ohr Boruch; HaRav Menachem Tzvi Berlin, rosh yeshiva of Rabbenu Chaim Ozer, and HaRav Mordechai Gross. They were joined by HaRav Arye Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Lakewood, and HaRav Eliyohu Wachtfogel, rosh yeshiva of South Fallsburg.

Recently, members of this fund visited the gedolei haTorah in their homes. Gedolei haTorah blessed them with success in the new endeavor, which will spur review and study in the yeshivos.

According to the plan, pamphlets submitted by students on subjects studied in yeshivos and kollelim will be thoroughly reviewed by prominent talmidei chachomim. Authors of the best pamphlets will receive generous stipends. The first scholarship will be NIS 5000; the second: NIS 2000; the third -- NIS 1000; while ten more awards of NIS 500 each will also be granted.

In addition, a special publication including some of the best articles will be published.

Last Tuesday night, explanatory material on the program was presented in the yeshivos. Any yeshiva or kollel interested in participating in this unique program should call 050-897234 or write to P.O.B. 57419, Jerusalem, ISRAEL.
