HaRav Dov Lando shlita Visits Imrei Moshe Yeshiva in Jerusalem

by HaRav Zev Glock

3

Within the framework of a campaign of chizuk in yeshivos throughout the country, Rabbenu HaRav Dov Lando visited Yeshivas Imrei Moshe, headed by HaRav Mishkovsky, in Yerushalayim. Upon arrival, he joined the rabbonim and the student body for Ma'ariv, a prayer which then, in the midst of the year, resembled a Yom Kippur service.

Upon the culmination, HaRav Lando delivered a message of blessing and fortification, joined by HaRav Yisroel Ganz and HaRav Yitzchok Ehrenfeld, Rosh Yeshiva of Mishnas Akiva; HaRav Boruch Shapira, Ra"M of Yeshiva l'Tzeirim of Kol Torah.

Among his words was the following message:

"Dear students who study Torah. Fortunate are you and your portion. Study well, immerse yourselves in your study; the only thing that should interest you is study and performance of mitzvos, so that you gladden those who are interested in your welfare. Continue to ascend higher and higher in the levels of Torah, in depth and intensity, with the uppermost goal being to listen, absorb fully and be totally immersed in your study.

"I bless your Rosh Yeshiva and rabbonim with whole goodness, upright students as designated by our Sages, and that you derive nachas from them all throughout your days. May we merit that all the tribulations that confront us disappear entirely like a passing dream. May Hashem help us and enable us to study Torah in peace and quiet and ascend in all levels, until the coming of Moshiach, Amen."

At the end of his address, all of the rabbonim approached him to receive his blessing. When HaRav Yitzchok Ehrenfeld,, Rosh Yeshiva of Mishnas Yaakov - Beis Shmuel and also Rav of Kiryat Mattersdorf, was presented to him, with the introduction that he was a scion of the Chasam Sofer, HaRav Lando said: "May you reap the merit of both the Chasam Sofer and of HaRav Akiva Eiger," adding, "that this goes together, Torah giants from both sides. The merit of forefathers is a guarantee which you must collect. It obligates. May Hashem help that we carry out obligations."

The Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Mishkovsky, requested a special blessing for the students who had succeeded in completing the study of Maseches Kiddushin, including verbal fluency of the tractate. In his humility, he replied, "I cannot convey such a blessing because I, myself, don't know Maseches Kiddushin by heart."
