NEWS High Court judges hinted on
Tuesday that they have no intention of interfering with the law that
permits yeshivos ketanos not to teach the Core Curriculum
(Leba). Their remarks were made during the course of a
provocative petition to annul the law and impose the Core Curriculum
at yeshivos ketanos.
The Torah world was shrouded in
mourning Monday night upon hearing of the histalkus of HaRav
Aryeh Leib Baron (Baranowitz) zt"l, a vestige of the pre-War
Torah world in Lithuania, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Merkaz HaTorah
in Montreal and the author of a number of important books covering
various areas of Torah study.
Yeshivas Kol Torah students and
alumni lay to rest on Motzei Shabbos Shuva HaRav Gedaliah Eismann, the
mashgiach ruchani of Kol Torah for over 50 years, who passed
away on the night of Shabbos Shuva, 3 Tishrei 5772, at the age of
101.
The Gavad of Ungvar HaRav Menasheh
Klein, a prodigious posek who wrote Mishneh Halachos,
passed away last Wednesday, erev Rosh Hashana, in the US.

His exceptional talents were apparent even as a child, and at the age
