Degel HaTorah and Agudas Yisroel again submitted a joint Knesset list to the Central Election Committee at the last minute, and once again chose to use the letter "Gimmel" on ballot slips. The list for the joint party, known as United Torah Jewry and Shabbos-Agudas Yisroel Degel HaTorah, was submitted by Rabbi Avrohom Weber and Rabbi Moshe Shiffman of Degel HaTorah and Rabbi Shlomo Vidslavsky and Rabbi Yosef Deutsch of Agudas Yisroel.

High Court Forces Housing Ministry to Sell Lots in Ramat Beit Shemesh to Chareidim

Following a legal battle stretching nearly five years, the High Court determined that the decision by the Housing Ministry's Tenders Committee to annul the tender for build it yourself plots of land in the Shachar neighborhood located in Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel merely because the winners were chareidi, was illegal.

In hindsight, some might say Sharon wanted Shinui in the coalition only because of his desire to effect far-reaching changes, particularly in economics, and he was well aware that the chareidi parties would not support these moves.


Jerusalem Opens Special Kindergarten Enrollment Center

The Jerusalem Municipality's Department of Chareidi Education will operate a special enrollment center in addition to the one at Safra Square, to allow parents of kindergartners to enroll their children for the upcoming 5767 school year. Designed to save parents time, the enrollment center will be open this week from Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Beit Malka, Rechov Brandeis 2.
