Members of the Degel HaTorah-Vishnitz Party in Elad met at
the home of HaRav Aharon Leib Steinman, presenting a full
report on the activity by Degel HaTorah members and their
help in developing Torah institutions in the city.
Participants at the meeting included the moro d'asro,
HaRav Shlomo Zalman Grossman, Degel HaTorah General Secretary
MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and Degel HaTorah-Vishnitz members Vice
Mayor Rabbi Tzvi Herbst, who also serves as chairman of the
local Degel HaTorah branch, Deputy Mayor Rabbi Shmuel
Grossman and Councilmen Rabbi Moshe Cohen and Rabbi Chaim
Meir Katz.
The delegation members briefed HaRav Steinman in detail on
the Torah activities Degel HaTorah sponsors in Elad.
HaRav Steinman expressed his pleasure with the development of
the city and its Torah institutions, saying the councilmen
must work to bring more yeshivas and Torah institutions to
the city in order to help maintain its Torah- based
character.
At the end of the meeting the participants decided that Degel
HaTorah-Vishnitz would operate in full cooperation in the
city for the sake of the local bnei Torah and all of
the city's residents.
Taking part at the event were Rabbi Avrohom Pachter,
president of the Torah center, Rabbi Moshe Stein, deputy
director of the education department, and Rabbi Avigdor
Katzburg, assistant to the Deputy Mayor.
