Keep Smiling
Short inspirational pieces by Avrohom Tzvi Schwartz, Kiryat Sefer, author of A Handful of Light, Hearts on Fire and his latest, Be Happy and Succeed.

Making the Most of It

You don't need much time, or even many roses, to smell the roses. There must be something within arms' reach around you for you to enjoy. If not a material object, than an idea, a concept. Look at it. Focus on it. Make yourself a moment of happiness. Such an attitude then lights up not only the moment, but other moments as well.

We need to create a mind-set where our happiness doesn't depend on any happening, any person, any object. Whether the sun is shining or it is raining, whether others are nice or nasty, whether we get the job or lose it, we stay happy.

Can we be happy when "everything goes wrong?" We need to look not at what is, but rather, at what is right. We have to focus on the positive. We have to paint our faces with a smile.

Then, when we do what we can, Hashem, and the world, follow our bright, sunny example and do the rest.
