Midrash Shmuel's Summer Program Off to a Great Start

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Under the auspices of Midrash Shmuel's rosh yeshiva HaRav Binyomin Moskovits, high school students from London and Canada have once again joined the unique learning atmosphere of Midrash Shmuel for the summer. As in previous years, the Midrash summer program combines day-long learning with activities and trips to create a meaningful and exciting experience for its participants. The holiness and beauty of Yerushalayim provides an evocative backdrop for the daily learning.

Shiurim include the yeshiva's daily iyun gemora shiur with HaRav Zvi Solomon as well as hashkofoh, halochoh, and mussar shiurim with senior avreichim. Participants thus receive a true taste of learning in yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel.

Rabbi David Solomon, Midrash Shmuel administrator and coordinator of the summer program, is particularly pleased with the program so far. "The boys have settled in to the Midrash Shmuel atmosphere with ease, enjoying the daily routine of yeshiva. One of our objectives is to impress upon the boys that full time learning is a fulfilling and enjoyable experience."

Alongside the learning and shiurim, students also have time to relax. They enjoy sports programs and evening activities, as well as organized events and trips around Israel. The group has already visited memorable sights around Yerushalayim and in the coming weeks will be meeting the gedolim in Bnei Brak, visiting the holy sites of the Galil, and swimming in the Dead Sea.

Participants in Midrash's summer program are enjoying and welcoming the yeshiva's balance: its serious attitude towards learning while understanding students' need for warmth and fun. As one of the participants from London commented, "I'm still amazed how easy it is to approach the fifth year bochurim immersed in their learning."
