Two Yeshaya Scrolls Donated to Kosel Plaza
by Betzalel Kahn

A fine Yeshaya scroll was brought to its new home at the Kosel Plaza during a mass tefillas Minchoh on Asoroh BeTeves at the Kosel Plaza and the occasion was marked by a seudas mitzvoh following the fast.

The lack of nevi'im scrolls has been felt for years at the Kosel, considering the large number of minyanim that prefer reading the Haftorah portion from a klaf, particularly on public fast days when dozens of minyanim are held simultaneously. When this problem, in addition to the serious shortage of Ashkenazi sifrei Torah, was brought to the attention of philanthropist R' Aryeh Leib Westreich during a hachnosas sefer Torah ceremony held at the Kosel Plaza on Tisha B'Av for a Torah scroll donated by R' Yomtov Hoffman, Westreich immediately decided to donate two Yeshaya scrolls.

The first was now presented on Asoroh BeTeves and the second is slated for presentation in another few months. According to police estimates, over 20,000 people came to the Kosel on Asoroh BeTeves.

After the fast, members of regular minyanim at the Kosel gathered for a seudas mitzvoh where speakers included Kosel Rav Shmuel Rabinovitz, Director of the National Center for the Development of Holy Sites, R' Yosef Shvinger, R' Westreich and R' Hoffman.
