Lyrics Call for Acts of Violence Against Chareidim and Rabbonim
by Betzalel Kahn

A youth band whose members identify with the Left and whose highly provocative name is intended to attract media attention, has been performing a song with unprecedented lyrics explicitly call for harming rabbonim and destroying botei knesses as well as extremely heretical utterances, Rachmono litzlan.

Education Minister Limor Livnat, who was also smeared along with the far right in another of the band's songs, said the lyrics were "harsh expressions, antisemitic and extreme expressions, against Judaism, public figures, rabbis and the entire right. This is not a personal matter but remarks calling for violence, blasphemy and incitement, including incitement to murder." Livnat announced that she had asked the Attorney General to order the police to investigate the calls to violence, including incitement to murder.

Rabbonim, educators and public figures say this extreme manifestation represents another sign of the deterioration of secular youth in Israel, which has received a defective education in government schools. "Nobody should be surprised at these severe words, which could lead to severe acts of violence against rabbonim and against the chareidi public, for secular youth in Israel are very influenced by 'singers' and their lyrics. Those who are responsible for these harsh expressions are the heads of [Shinui], which disseminates hatred and venom toward Judaism and toward anything with a hint of kedushoh, and secular youth are very influenced by them to the point of calls and incitement to murder," said one observer.
