MARAN HARAV SHACH ZTVK'L
A Single Mussar Thought: HaRav Moshe Aharon Braverman
Shares Memories Of His Fifty Year Association With HaRav
Shach zt'l
by HaRav Meir Heisler, transcribed by Rafael Berlson HaRav Heisler, a veteran disciple of Maran ztvk'l, related a succession of amazing stories about the ameilus, yegio and ahavas haTorah of Maran Sar HaTorah ztvk'l. Twice during the speech, Rav Heisler's voice broke, choked with tears; his love for Maran permeated the room. Lebenslied -- the Lifesong of Maran, ztvk'lby HaRav Yehudah Dvir "Do you not know that a sar vegodol has fallen today in Israel?" said Dovid Hamelech (Shmuel II 3:35) upon eulogizing the death of Avner ben Ner. Sar means literally "officer" or "minister," and in its broader connotation: leader. Godol denotes exactly that. And we lament today: Don't you know that we have become orphaned today from a minister, an officer, from a great figure? As a public, collectively, and each and every one of us, individually. HaRav Shach Zt'l, Founder And Mentor Of Yated Ne'emanby Rabbi Nosson Zeev Grossman A profound sense of personal loss can be felt these days in the offices of Yated Ne'eman. Although so many felt that their relationship with the Rosh Yeshiva was special and somehow unique -- and these feelings have been brought into even sharper focus over the past weeks -- the Yated staff were still aware of his having felt a particular warmth for the paper which he brought into existence and for whose survival he went to such lengths. Sparks of Greatness: Maran Rosh Hayeshiva -- HaGaon R' Elozor Menachem Man Shach, ztvk"lTo mark the end of the sheloshim ("Sparks of Greatness" is a regular feature of Yated Ne'eman. It is included in this issue of Dei'ah Vedibur as a special tribute to HaRav Shach, zt"l. ) Yegias HaTorah
Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Leibovitz heard from a talmid of
his grandfather, Rav Boruch Ber zt"l, who had a
chavrusa with Maran during the period that the latter
got married. He told him that on the Rosh Yeshiva's wedding
day, that talmid of his grandfather reasoned he would
have some free time, for surely the chosson would be
busy. However, the Rosh Yeshiva sat and learned with him
until half an hour before his own chuppah. "Awaken, my dear brothers, and may we together be
awakened!"
Regarding everything which is taking place before us in the
world which our ears hear and our eyes see, events the likes
of which have not taken place [in our lifetimes] and which
are occurring so suddenly -- shall we not stand and reflect a
moment?
Dear Tzvi Aryeh,
I want to add a few words about the event of a few weeks ago.
I know that you have already read articles and heard
hespeidim, and I'm sure that much more will still be
written and said, but I wanted to convey some of my own
experiences on that day and share feelings that I and many
others had and still have. by Yated Ne'eman Staff Immediately after the petiroh of Maran Rosh Hayeshiva, many wonderful initiatives were undertaken le'ilui nishmoso. Of particular note was an initiative taken to write a sefer Torah mehudar under the auspices of Yeshivas Knesses Yissochor. Bnei Torah all over the world will be able to buy a word or a line in the sefer Torah for a nominal sum. Bnei Torah all over the world have shown great interest in participating in the writing this sefer Torah. New Sefer on the Torah of HaRav Shach zt"lby Yated Ne'eman Staff A new sefer with hundreds of heretofore unpublished facts and hanhogos of Maran HaRav Elazar Menachem Man Shach ztvk"l, published last week, has made a tremendous impact in Torah circles the world over. Modi'in Illit Municipal Authority Seeks Name Change to Avi Ezriby A. Cohen The Modi'in Illit Municipal Authority has asked to change the name of the city to "Avi Ezri," after the Avi Ezri, the monumental work of Maran the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Elozor Menachem Man Shach, ztvk"l.
