National Council for the Well Being of Children: Plundering Children's Allowances is Criminal
by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Following approval of the "economic rescue" plan last week, Dr. Yitzhak Kadman, chairman of the National Council for the Well Being of Children, said the plan may save the economy but would destroy the foundations of Israeli society in the meantime.

Dr. Kadman says the plan causes unsustainable, unjust, immoral and disproportionate harm to the weak and the lower classes. His remarks contradict Finance Ministry slogans which claim to "distribute the load" of the economic program.

"The greatest and most unjust harm will be to children and families with children. The major plunder of children's allowances is a criminal act with no moral, economic, social or other basis," said Kadman. "Hatred toward Arabs and chareidim is no substitute for a social or economic policy. Israeli society will pay a very heavy price for this unprecedented social assault."
