Thousands participated in the levaya last week of 17-
year-old Avrohom Eliyohu Nechmad Hy'd, who died of
injuries sustained four months ago in the bombing attack in
Jerusalem's Beis Yisroel neighborhood.
Nechmad was in the intensive care unit of Hadassah's Mt.
Scopus Hospital since the terrorist attack occurred. He
passed away last Wednesday and was buried in the new cemetery
of the eastern housing block in Rishon Letzion.
Nechmad studied at Yeshivas Or Gaon in Bnei Brak. His
rabbonim and friends said he was good-hearted and yirei
Shomayim, loved by Hashem and by his fellow man.
On the night of the attack the Nechmad family was
participating in a bar mitzvah celebration held at the
Machaneh Yisroel guest house in Beis Yisroel. On motzei
Shabbos the guests gathered in the courtyard for Havdoloh.
Avrohom Eliyohu and his 15-year-old brother Shaul went to
bring a bottle of wine and as they made their way back a car
bomb exploded in a narrow alleyway. The blast killed ten
people, including Shaul Nechmad, who died at the scene. Two
uncles and two cousins sustained injuries.
Hundreds came to console the family, including the
grandmother who lost six grandchildren, a son and a daughter-
in-law in the bombing.
