Hachtoro of HaRav Dov Tzvi Kreiswirth

An impressive ceremony was held at the appointment of HaRav Dov Tzvi Kreiswirth as the rav of the Derech Chaim community and the Meir community in Har Nof, Yerushalayim. He is succeeding his father, the great gaon HaRav Chaim Kreiswirth zt"l, the Gavad of Antwerp, who served as the rav of both these eminent communities.

The event began in the early hours of the evening in the home of HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv, who was the first to sign the ksav hachtoroh of HaRav Dov Tzvi Kreiswirth. Maran also gave him a letter of blessing and blessed him that he merit to continue in the ways of his father zt"l.

Afterward, the venue moved to the beis medrash in Har Nof for a siyum haShas le'illui nishmoso of the Gavad of Antwerp. Opening remarks were delivered by HaRav Aharon Shedmi, a ram in the Heichal HaTorah Mitzion beis medrash and one of the prominent members of its congregation. Letters were read from HaRav Eliashiv, as well as HaRav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz, HaRav Boruch Dov Rosenberg, HaRav Malkiel Kotler, HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky, HaRav Yeshaya Goldschmidt, the Ravad of Carlsberg from Boro Park and more.

Speaking were HaRav Mordechai Zuckerman, HaRav Shmuel Auerbach, HaRav Pinchas Zelivansky, HaRav Tzvi Kushelevsky, HaRav Simcha Kook, HaRav Boruch Shimon Solomon and the Admor of Pittsburgh, a brother-in-law of HaRav Kreiswirth shlita.

Finally the new rov spoke, saying that he did not know how he could fill his father's place. After the event, he went to give money to an almonoh that his father promised to support from his sick bed.

Recently also there was a special hesped marking sheloshim since the passing of HaRav Chaim Kreiswirth, zt"l at the Ahavas Torah shul in Kiryat Zanz of which the niftar was the nosi. Speaking were HaRav Arye Finkel, HaRav Michel Zilber, HaRav Aharon Dunner of London, and the niftar's son, HaRav Dov Kreiswirth.
