From whatever aspect we look at the situation, we cannot help but be dizzy. To the devout public of those who fear Hashem, the upcoming elections are fateful, decisive and critical. "A day of judgment," as our rabbonim, from the beginning of state, defined it, all the more so when we are subject to a ruthless, brutal and merciless persecution against the chareidi public as a whole, and the public of Torah students in particular.
This is not only the stated declaration of the Opposition parties which have agreed to sit alongside the Hamas representatives from the 'Moslem Brotherhood' rather than with the chareidim, to say nothing about their outspoken agreement to join the "Democrat," an extreme Leftist who regards the IDF soldiers as those "who murder children as a hobby," and not with the representatives of large families which they believe should be starved.
Their unconcealed goal is to impair, in every way possible, the electoral power of the chareidi public and to reduce it as much as possible so that it can be trodden down to the dust.
To this end, they publicize purposely falsified surveys to indicate a decline in our voting power. They go as far as encouraging certain bodies to take the chareidi ballots and throw them into the garbage bin. There are groups which are prepared to invest large sums of money in order to reduce the voting power of the public of those who fear Hashem and to prove, as it were, that all the talk about its swelling and blessed growth does not find expression in the Knesset, as 'proven' by the number of its representatives.
Torah leaders who, for the most part, encouraged the public to participate in the Knesset elections, did not do so in order to achieve results or budgets. Their declared and clear objective in the early days was to prove to one and all that there are tens of thousands of Jews loyal to Hashem and His Torah, who declare full voice that the eternal Torah of Jewry will never change or be exchanged forever.
This was their sole objective and none other; this was long before the chareidi representatives became Coalition partners and were active in rescuing the oppressed from the hands of the oppressor in exchange for receiving budgetary crumbs for chareidi institutions.
This appeared in a public announcement at the very onset of the State, before the first elections:
"It is a holy and obligatory duty for every man and woman who esteems the fear of Hashem in his heart, to participate in these elections and place their vote, exclusively and solely for the central chareidi list: the Agudath Israel Party. Each vote cast for this party is a fortification for the bastion of Torah-true Judaism, for the exaltation of Torah and the strengthened establishment of religion in our holy Land. Heaven forfend that this duty be depreciated, for our very souls and those of the coming generations are contingent upon it."
There are forces, from within and without, which presume to think that they understand better than our Torah leaders, but of these the Torah stated: "The construction of sons is destruction" (Megilla 31b).
A Comment on Trump
It is true that in the test of time, Trump is indeed, a president friendly to the State of Israel in general, and to Jews in particular. He will forever be remembered as the man, who with the grace of Hashem, brought about the release of all the hostages held in the hands of Hamas. But he is still a problematic person who cannot be predicted regarding his favoritism or of who will become his sworn enemy in the near future.
