General Zamir Lacks Values, not Soldiers

by Rabbi Yitzchok Roth

3

General Zamir met with the Knesset Committee for Foreign Affairs and Security in order to present a report on the progress of the war on all fronts, while repeatedly insisting on the army's need for more soldiers. During the hearing, MK Rabbi Meir Porush asked the Chief of Staff, "In the period of your tenure as head of the Security Ministry and with your backing, a committee was formed under Aluf Shkeidi which recommended administering the topic of mobilizing the draft through negotiation with the chareidi sector while not drafting those who were studying three full shifts daily. Why, then, are you permitting the military police to contend with chareidim in opposition to the recommendations of the Shkeidi committee?"

Zamir refused to answer, and not arbitrarily. Top rabbinical heads of the National Religious stream, including heads of the Hesder institutions which do send their star graduates to fight in the army, have been requesting for a long time to meet with the General. They have serious complaints regarding the army's dealings with the Hesder inductees and its trampling upon all previous agreements, where every promise and guarantee to preserve the basic Jewish values during their military service has been flouted.

The rabbonim of these institutions, who have already called upon their students to refrain from enlisting to certain divisions where many ethical Jewish values are blithely disregarded, are seriously deliberating to forbid their students to enroll to the armored divisions for precisely those reasons. They request meeting with the Chief of Staff in order to present their arguments but the latter simply refuses to meet with them.

The army is not lacking soldiers but is lacking basic Jewish values. Zamir, like many of his colleagues, prefers progressive values, anti-ethical ones, even if this means distancing soldiers from the army. So let them not fabricate stories about the dire lack of soldiers. Rather, let them admit that they have a lack of values, not of soldiers.

Forgive the Palestinians like We Forgave the Germans?

The Berl Katzenelson Foundation is defined as one "of public benefit" and as an intellectual institute to promote values in the spirit of the Labor movement and the socio-democratic camp in Israel. The Labor Party, which dominated Israeli society for many decades, has long since expired, of no blessed memory, since all that remains of it is the 'Democracy' party of Yair Golan and his socialistic associates.

In a convention held by this organization for those still affiliated with it, a politically active Palestinian, member of the Fatah movement, was invited to address the audience.

He said: "If you are prepared to forgive the Germans for the atrocities they committed against you, you must also forgive the Palestinians for what they did to you on the 7th of October." He was accorded a roaring round of applause from the audience.

Soon after the Holocaust, there arose a new German government that totally rejected the crimes of the Nazis.

In contrast, the majority of Palestinians support the Nazi-like crimes of October 7th. They consider those murderers as Shahidim, heroes to be worshiped. Public squares have been called on their names and their school textbooks praise their 'heroic' deeds.

This is an example of the Leftist distortion which is not interested in the truth. The entire Gaza Strip settlements where hundreds of citizens, babies, women and the elderly, were massacred, were Leftists who collaborated with their neighbors across the border. But this did not help them a bit when they were kidnapped and tortured by their Gaza criminals, and did not prevent some of them from talking about a 'pardon' to those murderous gangs, they and all their counterparts, who, to this day, still continue to maintain the ideological concept of decimation even if, thankfully and Providentially, they lack the wherewithal to carry it out.
