Public Condemnation -- Private Rejoicing

by Rabbi Yitzchok Roth

3

The Arab nations expressed modest condemnation of the Israeli attack, while it was hard not to discern their inward glee at the misfortune of Iran in their news reports on the Arab stations. They pounced with great joy over the scenes of Iranian destruction while stressing the Israeli surprise attack, especially noting the Israeli element of surprise and the fact that the attack proved how vulnerable Iran was, how weak and vulnerable to Israeli intelligence to the point that it could not defend itself and its chief officials.

Iran presented a threat to Arab regimes no less than a danger to the State of Israel. The Iranian vision is to dominate and impose a fanatic Shiite government over the entire area, with a gradual control over all of the Arab nations. Thus, Iran has (had) branches in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, from which the road is short to extend onward to Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.

What stood in its way was the State of Israel, whose destruction — according to the Iranian vision — would remove the obstacle from the realization of the dream of creating a huge Shiite dominion over the entire region.

The fear of the Arab nations of the moment when Iran acquired nuclear weaponry was no less than that of Israel of that very moment. And the war which Israeli army launched in order to stem the progress and capability of a nuclear bomb in Iran was a moment of joy for the Arabic countries.

Outwardly, they had to demonstrate Moslem solidarity and denounce the Israeli offensive, but these are merely external lip service while inwardly knowing full well that the Israeli army was doing their work for them.

And so, too, the war against Hamas in Gaza, which garners censure from various Arab countries, is reason for equal joy no less. The present regimes like Egypt and Jordan, fear the spread of Islamic extremism over the entire region. The obliteration of Hamas is an Egyptian interest no less than that of Israel.

And even if Egypt denounces Israeli activity in Gaza here and there, all know full well that its leadership blesses Israel for its attempts to remove that threat from the other countries of the area.

The same goes for world politics, where hypocrisy screams to the high heavens. The Arab nations suffering from the seizing control of Islamic immigration over certain areas denounce Israel morning and evening because of small-time politics.

Outstanding of all is the anti-Semitic French president Macron, who, in order to garner more Moslem votes at the polls is prepared to sell all liberal Western values down the river and attack Israel at every possible opportunity.

Iranian Missiles on Tamara

One of the clips circulated by several Israeli citizens, shows them standing on a balcony in the Haifa area, shouting support of missiles raining down on Tamara, a nearby Arab city. While tails of fire make their way downward, those anonymous Israelis shout their encouragement, "On the village! On the village!" And when a missile lands directly on homes where people live, the shouts of joy reverberate, "Wow! They made a direct hit on the village!" Thus exults an Israeli woman.

Incidentally, as a reminder, sometime back, in the midst of Operation Tzuk Eitan which was launched, it will be recalled, after the kidnapping and brutal murder of three Israeli youngsters, when simultaneously, Hamas launched a barrage of rockets from Gaza to central Israel, there were mass demonstrations in Tamara against Israeli army activity in Gaza. The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and flags of the Islamic movement with shouts of "We are all Gaza!" This did not involve mere marginal incited citizens but thousands of residents of this Arab settlement, which, of course, does not condone in any way the goading and rejoicing of Israeli citizens.

These, as well as those are ugly and dangerous cries which should not be voiced to begin with.
