Remarks from the Editorial Board of Yated Ne'eman

His answers were not always a standard "one and one is two," but sometimes, "one and one is three." And he was always right. He did not think with human logic but according to the truth in the Torah and spoke with a celestial assurance. How did he know? How did he always hit the mark?

HaRav Avrohom Yitzchok Bloch (Shiurei Daas 134) explained, "The Torah says: I was a sophisticated tool of Hashem. When a mortal king builds a palace, he does not build it on his own but relies on an expert architect. Nor does the architect design it himself but refers to past models and designs which teach him how to construct rooms, windows and the like. In similar manner, as it were, Hashem looked into the Torah and created the world (Bereishis Rabba 1:1).

"A corollary to this is the understanding that 'all Hashem has in this world are the four cubits of Halacha,' means that there is no reality in the world outside of halacha. One can find in halachah the inner definition of the detail and of the whole in Creation regarding place, time and soul, all according to the will of the Creator. You can find the reality which man can perceive from the depths of the Halacha, which is the real form of reality and which is precisely the will of the Creator. One who is privy to be immersed in the four cubits of Halacha, he is the one who lives the life of this world as it truly manifests."
