Davening at the grave of the Vilna Gaon
In the wee hours of the night, the bus climbs up the hill leading to Radin, wending its way between the wooden houses, decrepit with age. It approaches the tomb of the one who illuminated the eyes of Jewry. In addition to the cold bursting into the bus the moment the doors are opening, a shiver of excitement grips the passengers at the realization that they have reached their destination, that they will very shortly be standing at the very site where the tzaddik was interred.
And thus, in those advanced hours of night, in a remote Belarus village, there bursts a great light reaching to the heavens. A prayer rally is launched amidst weeping, emanating from the throat of HaRav Shimon Galai, accompanied by the words of "Hashem, Hashem..." This is followed by the penetrating address of Rav Zolden, and of HaRav Shternbuch, followed by HaRav Ben Shimon who declaims the special prayer composed by Rabbi Yaakov Hillel expressly for this historic event.
The climax of this event follows intense prayer accompanied by emotional excitement, as these gedolei Yisroel place the Sefer Hagibborim upon the tomb of Maran the Chofetz Chaim, like Choni Hamagal who said, "Ribono shel olam, Your sons look to me, as being familiar in Your presence, for my intervention. I swear in Your great Name that I will not budge from here until You show mercy for Your children."
