Software Company to Hire Chareidim in Tsefat

by D. Rosen

The Old City of Tsefat

Tsefat residents rejoiced at the good news that, after exerted efforts and broad cooperation between the mayor of Tsefat, Shuki Ohana, and his deputy mayor, representative of Degel HaTorah, Rabbi Yisroel Meir Swerdlov, a major enterprise is in the offing to employ chareidi workers in the field of hi tech programming.

This initiative is based upon a highly established firm for programming which will open a central branch in Tsefat, which is projected to employ dozens of women who will be trained for the jobs. The company is prepared to abide by all the necessary requirements for establishing a congenial chareidi atmosphere, which is evident by the fact that it has appointed a feminine chareidi director from the Tsefat community.

It should be noted that for many years, attempts have been made to lure hi-tech companies to Tsefat, without success. This fact has prevented many young couples from settling there even though cheap housing was amply available.

This venture constitutes a major breakthrough for growth, primarily because it will be under the strict supervision of all the religious aspects required by a chareidi woman.

Deputy Mayor, representative of Degel HaTorah, Rabbi Swerdlov, noted, "This blessed initiative is unique from every viewpoint, and a huge blessing for Tsefat, since it will provide an employment structure supplying all the needs of a chareidi woman and her family makeup, tailor-made, augmented by the additional fact that it will be easily accessible, being located in Tsefat itself."

This enterprise is being established with the cooperation and auspices of the Bais Yaakov Seminary of Tsefat, which will supervise the kashrus requirements of the place and will provide an answer to employment for the seminary's graduates.

This project follows previous attempts of the kind, through Mayor Ohana and his deputy, Rabbi Swerdlov, who have employed many dozens of women from the various chareidi communities in different types of employment throughout the city, with, this time, providing significant salaries and preferred work conditions.
