Provocative Women at the Kosel Attempt Sacrilege

by Yisrael Rosner

Breaching of the walls of Kedusha at the Kosel area continues, to our dismay. This past Monday, those infamous women attempted once again to stir up riots at the Kosel area, together with the candidate from Yisrael Beiteinu, by carrying a Sefer Torah in order to read from it.

The group of women struggled with the security guards and the police at the entrance to the Kosel area in order to bring in their Torah scroll. At the end of the skirmish, the scroll was confiscated by the police in order to prevent the desecration and the harm to Jewish sentiments regarding the sanctity of the site and of the Torah as planned — with the sanction of the High Court.

Public figures, including rabbonim, who protested against this repeated attempt to violate all that is holy and precious to Jewish tradition, noted that "the recurring occurrence of these provoking women has lately received backing from the High Court which decided to provide backing to the Reform and recognize their `conversions'."

Chairman of United Torah Jewry MK Rabbi Yitzchok Pindrus, said, "Time after time, this exasperating and ephemeral group has tried to gain legitimization and come to a holy site in order to abuse and denigrate what is dear and sacred. Millions of visitors to the remnant of the Beis Mikdosh during the year who come to pray according to tradition prove that the Jewish people will not allow misguided legitimization. Last week we received a painful reminder from their representatives here in Israel who serve as judges. This behooves us to rally and overcome their foibles through legislation regarding the entire subject of conversion and Halacha and clarify that we cannot abide with the self-appointed authority of the court, and that only the Halacha can determine."
