Heightened excitement and activity is being registered in the halls of Torah in anticipation of the upcoming conclusion of the first cycle of the study of the Laws of Shmittah and Yovel of the Rambam, to be commemorated in the Siyum which will be headed by HaRav Chaim Kanievsky. It is to be held this coming Wednesday, on erev Rosh Chodesh Shevat, the 29th of Teves.

Tens of thousands throughout the world have joined in a daily study of the laws pertaining to shmittah and yovel by the Rambam, in botei medrash, Daf Yomi shiurim and shiurim via the telephone, according to the program and backing of HaRav Chaim, in expectation of the imminent shmittah year. As he exhorted, "...to study each day [from] the Rambam [the laws of] shmittah and yovel so as to be spared from all suffering."
