The search for survivors at Surfside was ended on Wednesday, as the effort shifted to a recovery operation. The death toll now stands at 54, with 86 people possibly unaccounted for.

The Israeli delegation from the Home Front Command says that according to its findings the number of missing that are under the rubble is much smaller than the official estimates and is only about 75 altogether.

The delegation from the Home Front Command brought along is Agamim system that can construct a three dimensional map of the site. The operational analysis team of the Intelligence Directorate’s “Unit 9900”, which specializes in visual intelligence, built a three-dimensional (3-D) model that maps the collapsed building in order to streamline the process of locating the missing persons at the site of the disaster. The software allows them to locate each body and to recommend the best route for reaching it. On their final map one can see the markers for each of the so far unrecovered bodies.

The Israeli delegation gathered a large amount of data and cross referenced it all to get an accurate picture of where each of the victims was likely to have been at the time of the collapse. They got information from the building management and other local bodies, as well as surviving family members who gave them data. They say that they got details such as the size and location of each of the apartments, the clothing worn, and the habits and even a list of pets.

They took all the information and coordinated it with cellular records, blueprints of the building, satellite photographs, and local before and after photos, and were then able to build a full model that can be used to aid the rescue efforts. The resulting model also led them to believe that there are only 75 victims.

Mishapacha Magazine reported that one of the rescue workers whose daughter's body was found under the rubble with the help of the Israeli system said that he credited the Israeli technology with finding her.
