HaRav Avrohom Kook Addresses his Yeshiva in Rechovot

By C. Honig

Rosh Yeshivas Meor HaTalmud, HaRav Avrohom Yitzchok Hakohen Kook, expressed himself with incisive and inspiring words to the yeshiva students who submerge themselves in study via the telephone throughout the three daily sessions. Among other things, he said, "This period has a special significance and proclivity to elevate us and fortify us in an amazing way. If at normal times we study Torah with the strength of numbers, of the public, and then the individual is caught up and energized thereby.

"But this extraordinary time, has the power of bolstering the power of the individual and indeed, each one suddenly discovers tremendous hidden sources from within to invest in the toil of Torah and its acquisition.

"Baruch Hashem, we are amazed to see all of the yeshiva students laboring in the four cubits of Halacha, via auditory means, uninterruptedly, thus increasing acquisition to be able to continue to fulfill the Torah requirement of `toiling in study' with their entire individual 248 and 365 parts of their body, in spite of the difficulties and tribulations. May they merit the blessing that whoever upholds the Torah from poverty will eventually keep it through wealth."
