Project Chavrusa Named after HaRav Shteinman

By Y. Shain

"The Shuvu network was very dear to my father's heart, and I was always amazed by the warmth and love he showed towards this organization. I think this can be explained by what we read in the Torah several weeks ago: `For I knew him to command his children after him...' The Torah reveals to us that this is a prime precept. There were converts before Jews became a nation but Avrohom Ovinu was the first to transmit his beliefs to his children. 'This is what is happening in the Shuvu network - and this is what my father saw - that the sons are so commanded to continue along the path. There is a carry-over, for we see graduates of the Shuvu schools who are now Torah-observant and yirei Hashem. Undoubtedly, this was a source of tremendous nachas to my father in seeing the growth and flourishing success of Shuvu. May his merit stand us by in the future as well."

These were the opening words of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman's eminent son, ylct"a, HaRav Moshe Shteinman, upon the special gathering to launch the new project "Chavrusa" into action in the Shuvu schools and botei medrash, Beyad Aharon in memory of the late father-master of Klal Yisroel, HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman.

The Chavrusa "Beyad Aharon" project has proven very successful. It is operated by Shuvu in the cities of Yavne, Mevasseret Zion, Natzeret Illit, Lod, Rishon leZion, Tel Aviv, Beit Shemesh, and in the elementary and high schools in Petach Tikva and Netanya. A part of the botei medrash operate in conjunction with the Wolfson Fund which runs the "Yaazoru" organization and in other places, in partnership with the "Knesses Yisroel" organization. Hundreds of avreichim come to the schools and study with the students throughout the week and on Fridays. In some of the botei medrash, these avreichim also study with the parents and run various Torah-oriented programs such as "Ovos uVonim".
