In light of the painful and distressing situation regarding shidduchim in the yeshivishe world in Israel in particular and that of young men and women seeking matrimony in general, HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, standing at the helm of the Lev Echad organization, requested the heads of the organization to assume renewed efforts in solving the problem on a large scale. His plea was taken up by roshei yeshivos and prominent rabbonim to undertake to involve themselves in the world of shidduchim, to intensively study the various reasons underlying the difficulties and formulate ways to alleviate the situation.

After a program was developed, HaRav Mishkovsky and HaRav Berman, as members of the rabbinical committee of the organization, presented the plans to HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and HaRav Gershon Eidelstein, who were gratified to hear of the establishment of this important organization and affixed their signatures, conveying their blessings for its success.

Their modus operandi will include involving the rabbonim of the various communities, both through the yeshivos and seminaries. HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch requested that a rabbinical committee accompany all activities under the leadership of the appointed rabbonim, HaRav Shimon Galai; HaRav Shlomo Zaafrani; HaRav Yechiel Bamberger; HaRav Chizkiyah Mishkovsky; HaRav Binyomin Finkel; HaRav Chaim Peretz Berman and HaRav Chaim Mann.

The founding meeting of the rabbinical committee took place when said rabbonim went to visit HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch in his home during Pesach. The visit was also attended by the editor of Yated Ne'eman, Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, and the heads of Lev Echad. At this pivotal session, ways of operation were discussed, as the rabbonim assumed responsibility for this mission. HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch said to them, and to the heads of the organization as well, "It is an obligation to assist this vital organization. It is a basic aspect of life preservation, both from the materialistic viewpoint as well as the spiritual one."

During these days, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming founding public assembly which will take place in the coming weeks, headed by the most prominent Torah leaders, roshei yeshiva and community rabbonim. It will present the basic precepts of the organization and the methods of promoting an increase of shadchonim in easing the yoke of their work on the one hand and the finding practical solutions in addressing the problem of housing and marriage expenditures in general, through the involvement of public figures, askonim and experts in these areas.

The main object of this assembly is to make efficient the issue of shidduchim both quantitatively and qualitatively in the yeshivishe circles encompassing all ages, by establishing a data base that will operate to access necessary information through various ways, to assist shadchonim as well as the general public. This assembly is geared to important shadchonim involved in the establishment of the very underpinning of the world through new Jewish homes within the public of bnei yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, representatives of yeshivos and seminaries, as well as representatives of communities throughout the country, enlisting them to devote their energies in creating shidduchim within their communities and circles. The gathering will similarly address the pressing problem of housing for this public.
