The Shamir Medical Center is Certified for Cohanim

Cohanim requiring medical services in the Shamir Medical Center (Asaf Harofeh) were gratified to receive some good news: after long drawn out and concerted efforts on the part of the supervising rabbi of the hospital's administration, together with the Taharas Cohanim Association, a map was publicized designating areas of the hospital campus where Cohanim can enter at any time without qualms.

The rabbonim of the association wish to emphasize that nonetheless, in cases of life-and-death, Cohanim must not refrain from accessing any area in order to receive the necessary medical treatment, and that the purpose of publicizing the permissible areas was only in those cases where this is no threat to lives.

During these past weeks, after a period of complex work and investment of concerted effort and resources under the supervision of the rabbi of the Shamir Medical Center, Rabbi Harel Fedida and the rabbonim of the Taharos Cohanim Association were given a long, extensive tour of the Center to examine the many changes and improvements made in the various buildings so as to enable access to Cohanim without any apprehension. The central subject was to enable entry to the building where diabetic orthopedic services were given and where sadly, many individuals from the chareidi sector require medical attention.
