All Jewish Communities Are Holding a Day of Prayer on Thursday Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan
By Yechiel Sever
All Jewish communities across the board - in yeshivos and shuls - will hold a day of prayer and arousal on Thursday Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan, as has been called for by the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah, Agudath Israel, as well as the Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah of Shas in a joint letter addressed to all of Jewry. This particular day is known to be especially propitious for prayer, and especially so for prayers about offspring, particularly the Prayer of the Shelah.
In anticipation to this important day, HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman said, "In all Jewish communities and Torah centers the Yom Kippur Kattan is to be recited, alongside five chapters of Tehillim." These are designated as perakim 13, 80, 121, 130 and 142, after which messages of arousal should also be delivered. HaRav Chaim Kanievsky said that "the threat of the Internet in this generation is great, and each of us must pray exceedingly that he and his family be spared from this danger."
