Israel Population at 8.4 Million Citizens

The Central Bureau of Population Statistics released interesting statistics about the population of Israeli citizens at the turn of 5776.

The Israeli population stands now at 8.412,000 of which 75% are Jews and 21% are Arabs.

Some 28,000 new immigrants arrived in Israel during the past year, a growth of 35% from the previous year. A fourth of them came from the Ukraine, a fourth came from France, and a fifth from Russia. Only about 10% came from the U.S.

161,081 children were born during this past year, and there were 40,636 deaths.
