Chinuch Atzmai in Bnei Brak

By Y. Rosner

The recent visit of the Director General of Chinuch Atzmai, Rabbi Eliezer Sorotzkin, to the schools of Bnei Brak, in which he was accompanied by the deputy mayor, Rabbi Avrohom Rubinstein and his deputy, Rabbi Menachem Shapira, and prime activists of the municipality, focused public attention upon the educational empire for Jewish daughters extant in the city. Entire neighborhoods which changed their religious nature to upgraded chareidi residents have created extreme congestion in the schools. The municipality is prepared to meet this positive trend with the necessary changes to solve this problem of overcrowding before it gets out of hand.

A view of the larger Chinuch Atzmai schools for girls in Bnei Brak with a total school population of some 14,000 girls breaks down as follows:

Oholei Eliezer boasts of 200 students; Chassidei Gur school for girls has 1000 students; Vishnitz has 1000 students as well; Zichron Meir doubles this with 2,000 girls; Chorev has 200; Kahaneman has 1,200; Mesores Yisroel has 900 students; Mercaz has 2,000; Neveh Achiezer —- 400; Neveh Meir - 900; Ramat Aharon - 1,200; Ramat Elchonon - 800 students; Shikun Gimmel - 1,200; Shaarei Aharon - 400 students and Tiferet Tamar has 400 students.
