Rain and Kinneret Watch

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret.

As of February 26 (7 Adar) 572 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 136% of the average rainfall for this period and 107% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.

This past week there was rain in Jerusalem and and more rain elsewhere, especially in the north. Most of the country has already exceeded the average annual rainfall for the entire season.

The current level of the Kinneret is -212.16 meters below sea level (a substantial rise from last week), which is above the lower red line of -213 meters. The Kineret has not risen that much this year but it now seems to be moving up at a faster rate. It is three and a quarter meters from the upper red line of -208.8 meters.
