Rain and Kinneret Watch

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret.

As of January 8 (17 Teves) 315 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 155% of the average rainfall for this period and 59% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.

In most places in Israel the rainfall so far has exceeded the average for this period so far but the excess has dwindled. This week was and continues to be very rainy with even a bit of snow in Jerusalem.

The current level of the Kinneret is -212.77 meters below sea level (a significant rise from last week), which is above the lower red line of -213 meters. It is about four meters from the upper red line of -208.8 meters.
