Switching to Kosher Water Meters

By Y. Shain

In the wake of the letter of Torah leaders warning against the serious possibility of Shabbos violation in places where digital water meters are installed, there has been an aroused awareness for changing these meters to kosher ones. Dozens of owners of summer tsimmer-bungalows throughout the country have contacted the Mishmeres HaShabbos organization asking for guidance in changing such meters.

The Mishmeres HaShabbos reports that the stronger and more insistent is the public demand from summer recreational centers to avoid using the problematic digital water meters, the greater will be the impact on all water companies throughout the country to allow for the change to kosher water meters which do not employ digital registration on Shabbos and Yom Tov.

A number of kosher water meters are available, but readers should be advised that some of those claiming to be kosher are not really without Shabbos violations. Further information is available specifically about water meters from telephone: 03-932-1065. Email: mh9321065@gmail.com
