HaRav Shteinman Shlita Explains His Approach

At the big chizuk rally held by the Ateres Shlomoh - Eretz Hatzvi kollelim, HaRav Chizkiyohu Mishkovsky, the mashgiach at yeshivas Orchos Torah, related a recent incident in which Maran the Rosh Hayeshiva, HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman shlita, explained his current approach to public activity. What follows is a quote from the remarks of HaRav Mishkovsky.

Tens of Thousands Demonstrated in Manhattan Against Religious Persecution in Eretz Yisroel

On Sunday 1 Tammuz, tens of thousands assembled in Federal Plaza in Manhattan for a large demonstration against religious persecution (redifas hadas) in Eretz Yisroel including proposals to draft yeshiva students.

Frum Jew Elected to French Parliament

For the first time in the history of the French parliament, and with a considerable majority, an orthodox Jew, R' Meir Chaviv, has been elected to serve in that national house of representatives. R' Chaviv garnered the votes of hundreds of thousands of French Jewish citizens residing in seven countries who obeyed the call of their rabbonim to choose this representative to serve in the Paris legislature.

In Response to Many Questioners, and to Keep From Transgressions

With regard to the new sponge designed to wash dishes called "Shabbatclean" and some imagine a hetter to use it on Shabbos as claimed by Machon Tzomet, we hereby publicize our opinion that it is absolutely forbidden to use it on Shabbos...

HaRav Yehoshua Yeshaya Neuwirth zt"l

HaRav Yehoshua Yeshaya Neuwirth zt"l was born in Berlin on 14 Adar I 5686 (1926). His father HaRav Aharon was a well- known rav. His mother was a descendant of HaRav Yitzchok Dov Bamberger, the Wurtzberg Rov. His father refused to become an official, state-supported rov ("rav mita'am") and was thereby better able to keep halochoh.

Increasing Torah Study and Prayer

Tens of thousands of Torah scholars in locations throughout Eretz Yisroel and the entire world continue to strengthen themselves in Torah study and prayer, and in all the yeshivos and Torah centers measures have been taken to strengthen and increase Torah study without interruption, especially during times of laxity, such as on these long Fridays and Shabbosim.

Ha'admor Rabbi Nachman of Horodenka, zt"l
In honor of his yahrtzeit, 2 Tammuz (5525)

Rabbi Nachman was among the greatest of the talmidei chachomim and ovdei Hashem who would gather to learn in the kloiz in Brod. Rabbi Nachman himself relates that during this period he would immerse himself daily in the freezing waters of the river. So cold were they that no one else was able to enter at all and, following the tevilloh, Rabbi Nachman himself would have to lie against the burning walls of an oven for a full hour before he felt the warmth returning to his bones.

Leitzonus Against Us and For Us

by Rabbi Nosson Zeev Grossman Part II

Anyone who reflects on Jewish history will see how the Torah- observant have used this weapon of leitzonus of avodoh zora many times to fight against those who wished to wreak havoc on our religion. The use of that destructive, "non- conventional weapon" that derives its strength from leitzonus is particularly effective when there is a need to fight against those parties that want us to recognize their opinions as tenable.

. . . And the Pursuit of Happiness

by Mordecai Plaut
America was built on the premise that all people have an "inalienable right" to pursue happiness, as well as the rights to life and liberty as recorded in the American Declaration of Independence whose anniversary is this week.

The Rapid Rise and Fall of the Reshoim

by Y. Wurtzel
In the world of illusions in which we live, we often see reshoim succeed. Every so often along comes the next libertine hater of religion on the roster, declaring war against everything we hold holy and dear, spewing forth crude remarks against the legitimacy of living a life of Torah and mitzvos in Israel and provoking the masses against the Torah- true public and . . . presto! A little known run-of-the-mill politician turns into a big shot. Suddenly the media begins to accommodate him, the public hears his crass utterances frequently, his name becomes known to all and he swiftly rises to the top of the heap.
