Rechovot: Heart-wrenching Funeral for Father and 5 Children Killed in Fire

Heart-rending scenes and thousands of stunned mourners were part of the sorrowful levaya for the father and five children of the Shaer family who perished when their Rechovot home went up in flames. The funeral-goers were shaken by the depth of the tragedy that took the lives of an entire family in minutes, leaving only the bereaved mother alive.
Before the procession set out, large throngs gathered outside the charred apartment on Najara Street to lay to rest 38-year-old Guy and his children, Eliav, 11, Evyatar, 8, Amitai, 7, Shira, 3, and 20-month-old Itamar. They recited Selichos and chapters of Tehillim, with tears streaming out of many eyes at the words, "Kel Melech, yosheiv al kisei rachamim." When HaRav Yaakov Addes continued the recitation of Tehillim the crowd repeated the verses in murmured weeping.
Eulogies were given by HaRav Y. Metzger, HaRav Simchoh HaKohen Kook, the moro d'asro of Rechovot, Mayor Rachamim Malul and Rabbi Avrohom Yosef Lazerson, one of the heads of Chinuch Atzmai.
