Ariel Sharon Park, One of the Largest in the Country, Adapted to the Chareidi Public

By Y. Sheinfeld

Park Ariel Sharon, formerly the Chiriya Disposal Dump, which spreads over 18 dunam (about 4.5 acres), is one of the largest ecological projects in the country. For the first time, it will be adapted to the chareidi public, thanks to the efforts of Rabbi Yaakov Asher, mayor of Bnei Brak, who also serves on the board of directors of the park and is chairman of its financial committee. This body also receives government support for environmental protection and is also coordinated by Image - Marketing and Production.

With the adaptation of the Park for the chareidi public, some 20,000 Bnei Brak junior residents have already enjoyed its features this past bein hazmanim in the "Bnei Park" vacation program which operated in the area for five days.

Featured during this time were a variety of exciting program and attractions which incorporated the themes of recycling and environmental quality. These included Ferris wheels, children's trains, arts and crafts booths, giant jumping air-pumped models, go-carting, workshops teaching the use of recycled products, six meter high activity devices [bungee] on the top of the hill, amusement park attractions, a Three D simulator, bird watching workshops and a collection of large reptiles. In addition, there was a ring with circus acts focused on recycling which attracted thousands of happy children, all of which features were designed according to the unique spirit of Bnei Brak and under the supervision of rabbonim and well known Torah educators.
