United Torah Jewry Will Not Send a Representative to the Knesset Committee Regarding the Draft Bill
The United Torah Jewry party will not be represented in the committee established by the government and the new coalition on the subject of military service headed by MK Yochanan Plasner from Kadima.

With great heavenly mercy, there has been a considerable improvement in the condition of Maran HaRav Elyashiv to the point that this past Shabbos, he was able to daven in the Shaare Zedek hospital shul. The members of the Vaad HaRabbanim for Road Safety and the heads of the Chefzeinu Lechaim organization were granted a rewarding audience with HaRav Chaim Kanievsky in which they presented several halachic questions on road safety.
The bi-annual conference of the Council of Rabbis in Europe, meeting in Oslo, Norway, concluded its sessions the weekend of 20 Iyar. After having dealt with a variety of current topics on the agenda of European Jewry, the participating rabbonim went on a round of tours to meet and strengthen the Jewish community and its institutions. The conference was attended by rabbis from France, Germany, Britain, Holland, Belgium, Ukraine, Switzerland, Italy and Sweden, and was chaired by the Council's president and chairman, Rav and Av Beis Din of Moscow, HaRav Pinchas Goldschmidt. The president of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Baroso, sent a special deputy to the conference.

I sat in my room in the yeshiva and waited until the next applicant entered.
It was the season of registration for yeshivos ketanos, and as a maggid shiur in my yeshiva, I had been assigned the task of testing the bochurim who applied for entry.
