Study Reveals Most Govt. and IDF Conversions are Fake
Newly uncovered information is again raising concerns regarding giyur arrangements, both government-sponsored and in the IDF. A comprehensive, long-term study of the Conversion Institutes, at locations around the country, shows that most of the so-called converts never had any intention of undertaking Torah observance. Many even reported playing a part for appearance sake and living a dual existence until obtaining their conversion certificate.
French Legion of Honor Goes to Israel Boycott Activist
Outgoing French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, in his last action in office, enraged Jewish activists fighting the boycott of Israel. Just moments before he left the opulent palace at Quai d'Orsay, Kouchner found time to award the Legion of Honor to Mustafa Barghouti. Standing among the packed crates, Kouchner pinned the coveted red ribbon on Barghouti's chest, despite the latter's anti-Israel activity in France.
With the blessings of the moro d'asro HaRav Meir Kessler and other rabbonim, Mercaz Hachinuch set up the Binat Halev branch, a local treatment clinic in Modi'in Illit, based on requests by parents and educators in the city.
At a working meeting of the entire staff of Modi'in Illit's Psychological Services, which has dozens of staff members working at every educational institution in the city, an overview was presented of the services the department provides at every talmud Torah, kindergarten and school, including special education schools.
